Elimate IT slowdowns and downtime with proactive infrastructure management

User Experience

The digital world is taking a lead role in corporate success, and users are demanding more than ever from technology. Meanwhile, disruptions in IT service that spoil user experiences are carving into bottom lines.

Since most application disruptions stem from IT infrastructure problems, the solution is to monitor the IT environment holistically 24/7/365 and manage it based on the information you collect. While many of today’s monitoring tools operate in IT silos, such as servers or applications, Galileo enables you to monitor your whole infrastructure — servers, storage, and SAN — from a workstation or smartphone. It offers intelligence about your IT environment’s performance whether assets are on your premises, in the cloud, or in a hybrid or virtual environment.

Here’s how to use Galileo to keep systems up and running efficiently, and ensure a satisfactory end user experience:

1. Install Galileo Agents

For a comprehensive view of the IT environment that furnishes applications to users, install Galileo agents on your server, storage, and SAN assets. In less than an hour, the agents will start to collect data on your configuration, capacity, and performance. And you’ll soon be feasting on insights from around-the-clock surveillance.

2. Review Your Baseline

When your operations are running well, check out Galileo’s at-a-glance charts to determine your infrastructure’s baseline performance. That’s your point of reference for determining whether performance is improving or degrading over time.

3. Establish Your Baseline

Galileo provides a snapshot of your virtual grouping’s vital stats — IOPS, latency, throughput, and other essential metrics. Colorful, at-a glance charts use predictive analytics and intelligent thresholds to let you know if usage is trending to a point where you need to take action to keep operations running smoothly.

4. Perform Health Checks

Your IT infrastructure is in constant flux, so set a schedule for regular checkups, perhaps weekly or monthly. By doing so, you can see the impact of changes and make necessary adjustments.

5. Use Thresholds to Prioritize

With Galileo, you don’t get a sea of data. You get actionable information.

Based on expert knowledge, its thresholds set the boundaries of performance for the most critical aspects of your technology assets. And, of course, you can also customize them as necessary based on your own judgment.

On Galileo’s dashboard, charts and graphs are color-coded based on these thresholds. Green means everything is just fine. Yellow tells you that you’re headed toward the danger zone and need to make a change shortly. If you see red, you’re in trouble and must take action now. Of course, if you’re doing your regular checkups and addressing the yellow indicators, red warnings should appear rarely.

6. Dig Into Issues

If you see one of the key metrics turn yellow, you need to determine how to address the issue as quickly as possible. Sometimes, however, the answer is not lying on the surface. Instead, you have to dig to discover the root cause. With Galileo, you can drill down deeply and rapidly to pinpoint and resolve the issue that’s threatening performance.

7. Tune Into Trends

Select data from any period and apply models contained within Galileo to create forecasts. For example, predict filesystem usage, CPU utilization, memory usage and more. It’s your crystal ball for creating technology plans that ensure you’re always ready to deliver the best possible user experience.

Galileo makes it easy to provide optimum user experiences. Simply install the Galileo’s agents, review your baseline, and perform regular checkups of threshold indicators. When you find an issue, dig into it and resolve it. Also, plan for a robust future IT infrastructure by forecasting technology needs based on trends.

What do our customers say?

Galileo’s IT dashboards act as a crystal ball across our IT enterprise. We’ve already dramatically reduced our decision-making time.

We are better able to defer new storage hardware purchases and balance our storage needs across what we already own.

At a high-level view, I can see the entire enterprise at a glance. Galileo’s Enterprise Dashboard is shaping the data for me, showing me what to drill down on and what to look at.
