Announcing the latest Brocade SAN collection agent for Galileo Performance Explorer.
Brocade, a Broadcom Company, named 2/8/2022 as End-of-Support (EOS) for Brocade Network Advisor (BNA), the collection mechanism for Brocade fabrics. Broadcom recommends Brocade SANnav as a replacement for BNA.
To continue providing industry-leading infrastructure intelligence, Galileo’s new v2 agent for Brocade will use the REST functionality to collect all the configuration and performance metrics required. Read on for all the details you need to know:
Why is Galileo using REST API for data collection?
Using REST API allows all Brocade switches to be monitored by GPE (no requirement for SANnav). FOS >8.2.2 will be supported by GPE with the V2 Brocade agent.
Additionally, almost all 3rd party products will be switching to the REST API for collection, rather than support SANnav.
What about versions?
SANnav is supported on FOS >7.4, while REST is supported in FOS >8.2.X. BNA will still be usable for FOS levels <8.2.X despite EOS status.
Anything else to know?
Galileo will support both BNA and REST at the same time, using only one method per switch.
As a statement of direction from Brocade/Broadcom, BNA and SANnav are not supported together, unless historical performance collection is turned off on BNA.
3rd party products can collect from the switches, while SANnav is operational as well. (One stipulation is that CPU usage should not go above 78%, otherwise a supportsave may saturate the CPU.)
